About

The Beijing Scorpions were founded in April of 2005 by Pei ping yang and James Oliver. We are currently based in the Wu Dao Kou area and several of our players attend the Beijing Language University. Our home stadium in 2005 was KE JI DA XUE Science and Technology University. Our home stadium in 2006 was Bejing Chemistry University. Our home stadium in 2007 was BLCU. Scorpions train every Wednesday night, matches are usually on Sunday afternoons.

FAQ

Q: Who plays for the Scorpions?
A: Players from sixteen different nationalities have played for the us in an official match as of the last update. Players have various backgrounds but are usually students looking for some weekend football. Our only requirements are that players love the game and resepct the rules of the club.

Q: Why is the team called Scorpions?
A: Scorpions were a house team James' father coached in the early 90's. Most of the teams in this club's league were named after animals. No other names were popular in the beginning so James suggested this one.

Q: Why don't you play in the IFFC? (International amateur league)
A: We don't feel it's value for money. We enter and organize cheap events for WU DAO KOU area players instead.

Q: Who do you play against?
A: Scorpions play 11aside football against local Beijing teams/clubs. We've played 7aside with IFFC/expat teams in an event organized by Club Football. We've also organized our own 7s events (see Events for more details).

Goals

To play organised and competitive 11 aside and 7aside football. To organize tournaments in Northern Beijing, specifically the Wu Dao Kou area.

To provide our players with a chance to play football. This includes weekly training and matches against other clubs, with at least one event a week throughout the year.

To provide organization on the field. Players will be given specific instructions regarding their positions in the team and what's expected of them before each match. Players are also supplied with uniforms and training bibs.

To provide organization off the field. Players are kept informed on upcoming events through E-mail, SMS, and this website. Players will also be kept up to date on changes in club policies, training activities, and match tactics.

Most importantly we'd like to give Beijing newcomers a chance to meet other fans of the game, as well as give Chinese players a chance to try something different.

Join

We are looking for open-minded friendly and socially adept people. We are looking for players who can pay club fees on time, bring their proper kit, follow instructions and give 100% of whatever they've got in the matches. We play honest football. Players who constantly complain to referees, cheat in any way, or walk away from a game when the team's losing are not welcome in this squad.

Any soccer football players of a competitive amateur level wishing to join the Scorpions Football Club must follow these steps.

Contact James Oliver (Jamesbangkok@hotmail.com) and attend a training session. If you look useful we'll invite you to attend a match day. You will then be lent a uniform and invited to join the team in a formal game.

Club rules

1.
Remember to bring your assigned kit to matches.

2.
If you can't make it to a match or training call, E-mail, or SMS in advance. We need to know how many players we'll have to we can find replacements if necessary.

3. Our team will never quit a match once in progress unless the stadium coordinators cancel the match. This rule applies regardless of the weather conditions, score line, or player shortages.

4.
Any players representing our club will show proper sportsmanship at all times. We absolutely do not tolerate diving or cheating to gain advantage. We also do not tolerate any malicious play or instigating fights/arguments with opponents or officials.

4. Pay match fees. If you're short on money discuss it with the coach/captains before the game and arrange to pay when possible.

Club fees policy

There is no fee to join the club.

All players who participate in a match or training are required to pay the match fee for the pitch and referees. Matches and training sessions are currently 35rmb per player.
